Another Kind of Library - Book Cliffs, 8x10, Oil on Canvas Panel, Unframed

$200.00

A Different Kind of Library

This piece was inspired by a road trip through the Green River area of Southern Utah. The landscape here is otherworldly, especially the contrast between the lush green trees and the towering red plateaus. We drove down the road looking for those wonderful Green River Watermelon fields.

Looking at this scene, I couldn't help but think of Matt Haig’s The Midnight Library. In the novel, the protagonist explores the 'gray area' between life and death, learning how perception and small acts of kindness shape our reality. It felt fitting to capture this near the 'Book Cliffs,' which truly do look like a massive library carved into the earth.
