The way light pierced the decaying siding of a barn I encountered near Logan resonated deeply, evoking the image of a stained glass window with three crosses. I'm pleased to share that this piece was later honored with the Provost Award at the 2025 SLCC Student Art Show.
Mustard fields bloom in the winter months (January-March) in the Napa and Burgundy countries often over-running and covering the grapevines and supports. It’s a “lowly” spice that is harvested from the pods of the ever invasive plant that is part of the turnip family. It can grow to over 6 feet high. It dries up and spreads its tiny seeds for next year. I saw a T-shirt with a single mustard seed balanced on the tip of a finger. Underneath it read. I have a mustard seed and I plan to use it. I love that thought, especially in context with the biblical sermon on faith.
